Manipulation is a highly skilled form of manual therapy where the physio performs a short, quick thrust to a joint in order to allow it to move more efficiently.
You may hear an audible click and feel a release of pressure immediately when a manipulation is performed. After a manipulation you may find you have reduced stiffness, reduced pain and are better able to perform movements that were previously difficult. The aim is to allow movement to extend beyond the restricted range of motion you may have been previously experiencing. Treatment with manipulation in conjunction with exercise is an excellent way to ensure your neuromuscular system is working efficiently in recovery and that you are reducing the risk of further injury.
