Do I need a referral for TMJ physiotherapy?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us. If your dentist or physician has referred they are welcome to send us a referral.

Will treatment be inside my mouth?

Intra-oral techniques can sometimes be helpful, but they are always optional. We will talk through everything with you and work within your comfort level. Effective treatment can absolutely be done externally.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your symptoms, goals, and what your body needs. No two people are the same, and neither are our treatment plans. We’ll work with you to create an approach that fits you and evolves as you progress.

Can this help with headaches?

Jaw dysfunction can often be linked to headaches and neck tension. Addressing the jaw and surrounding areas can make a big difference.

What if I clench or grind my teeth?

We’ll help you understand when and why it’s happening, and give you realistic strategies to reduce the load on your jaw.

Can jaw physiotherapy be painful?

Jaw physiotherapy can be uncomfortable at the beginning, but your therapist will be in constant communication with you should it get too much and will give breaks as needed. We always want to make sure you are comfortable and treatment can be adjusted accordingly!
