What is Hypermobility?

Joint hypermobility means your joints move beyond the expected range of motion. For some people, this may cause instability, pain, or recurring injuries. When hypermobility causes physical problems, it may be diagnosed as Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) or Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).

Common Symptoms May Include:

  • Joint pain or aching
  • Frequent sprains, dislocations, or subluxations
  • Muscle fatigue and poor endurance
  • Digestive issues, dizziness, or autonomic symptoms
  • Difficulty with coordination and balance
  • Pain when sleeping or difficulty finding comfortable positions

  • Challenges performing everyday movements safely
  • You have a heavy head or “bobblehead”
  • Headaches at the base of the skull
  • Requiring multiple rest breaks throughout the day
  • Poor proprioception (reduced awareness of body’s position/movement)

  • Feeling unsure or unstable during activity
  • Frequent flare-ups of pain or injury
