Do I need a referral for dry needling?
No referral is needed. You can book directly with us.
Is dry needling safe?
Yes! Our physiotherapists are trained in dry needling and registered with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists. Needling is safe when performed by a trained professional.
Will it be painful?
You may feel brief discomfort as the needle is inserted, often described as a twitch or release. These sensations are normal. Following this technique muscle soreness can be felt for up to 24-48 hours.
Can dry needling help with headaches or neck pain?
Yes. Muscle trigger points can contribute to headaches, neck, or shoulder tension. Targeted needling can help reduce these symptoms.
Does dry needling replace exercise or manual therapy?
It does not. Dry needling works best as part of a comprehensive physiotherapy plan that may include exercises, manual therapy, and posture education.
What is the difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture?
Dry needling differs from acupuncture in the placement of needles. During dry needling, needles are placed in the body based on muscle trigger points found during the assessment, while acupuncture needles are placed based on energy channels in the body.
Is dry needling covered under Acupuncture or Physiotherapy for insurance?
Dry Needling will be covered under physiotherapy when direct billing insurance companies. Dry needling cannot be billed under acupuncture.
